Why Choose Paddock Board Instead of Stall or Pasture Board?

Paddock board offers the best balance of individualized care, freedom of movement, and natural living.

Individualized feeding
With paddock board, your horse’s specific nutritional needs are met. Unlike pasture board, your horse does not have to share feed or compete with other horses. Each horse receives the appropriate type and amount of feed without stress, bullying, or over- or under-feeding.

Constant movement and enrichment
Paddock boarding allows horses to move freely throughout the day, which is far healthier than prolonged stall confinement. Natural, self-directed movement supports joint health, circulation, digestion, and mental well-being. This is especially beneficial for horses with arthritis, navicular, metabolic concerns, or other soundness issues, as regular movement helps keep them comfortable and functional.

Access to quality forage
Boarders enjoy nonstop, unlimited access to high-quality grass hay, supporting optimal digestive health, reducing the risk of ulcers, and closely mimicking the horse’s natural grazing behavior. For horses with dietary restrictions or metabolic conditions, individually managed square-bale feeding is available in place of round bales, ensuring each horse receives the appropriate amount of forage without overconsumption. Thoughtful, individualized feeding is a cornerstone of our care.

Safe social interaction
Horses are social animals, and paddock board allows them to see, hear, and interact with neighboring horses over shared fencing. This provides important social stimulation without the risks that can come with group turnout, such as injuries from kicking, biting, or herd disputes.

The best of both worlds
Paddock board combines the structure and individualized care of stall board with the freedom and natural lifestyle of pasture board—without the downsides of either.
